Remote alarm fob

I have a new remote alarm/central locking fob, ( oval shape, single button, '95 300tdi) have followed procedure for programming, but have a problem. I have gone through the process of switching ignition on/off, locking/unlocking doors, releasing bonnet switch, switching ign. on/off again all within 8 secs. but alarm will not sound and new fob will not work (it has new batteries and the led works when button pressed). However, alarm and remote locking work as they should with old fob. Am I doing something wrong, has anyone programmed a new fob and can pass on advice???

Sure it's a dealer job, they have to plug into your E.C.U, however there is a thread on here where a company does it cheaper but you have to send your E.C.U away. I would have thought that somebody with the right software and cable should be able to do it, so it's worth phoning around for prices in your area.

I use dthem years ago with an old rover and found them to be very professional and willing to help.
