remapping disco td5

hi thinking of fittin a egr blanking plate a gettin the car remapped to hopefully get better mpg has any 1 done these mods and how did they work out.

EGR Blank saves just 1mpg from my calculations. But at less than £10 and 30mins to fit. Its paid for within a few tank refills.

Re-Map all depends on the kind of map setup you get. Some will soften power but give you lots better MPG but others that increase the power give you better MPG if you don't use all that power. IYSWIM.

Intercooler clean is supposedly a very good idea. After a EGR Blank/Removal.

cheers jack ive looked at ya postin of how to fit 1 very clear instructions.my previous cars were all vw passed tdi engines which give great mpg i put £40 in the tank and the light was on within 160 miles which i was nearly gettin 4 £20.i new it was not goin 2 b as good as my last cars but i thought it would b a little better so lookin to improve on the mpg or ill have to sell as i still havnt sold old car.

I have done both to my 2001 TD5. Fitted the EGR kit myself and as Jack says 30 mins work. Used Dynachip for my re-map and the difference is fantastic. There are a few companies recommended on this site and all are good.

theres loads of threads on here about remapping a td5, Search Dynachip as most on here use him, i did too for better mpg and smooth effortless power esp when towing, the chap is proper nice bloke too, total enthusiast and knows his stuff.

Dont think too long about doing it, it cost me about £250, i raised my mpg to about the 30 mark but best of all is oooodles of grunt, It will pay you back in no time.

Just do it!!
