After spending a bit of time with my girlfriends dad at a local offroad club I quickly became addicted and had to buy my own project off roader, it didn't take long to track down a cheap D1 300tdi but with cheap comes problems as the pictures below will show haha.

Here it is in standard form
IMG_1602.jpg

Had to have a new passenger side sill as the old one had more holes than swiss cheese and the drivers needed a few patches

Another hole in the passenger footwell that's been patched up now
IMG_1640.jpg

and a rather big hole in the boot under the passenger rear seat (didn't get a photo of the driver side but that needs welding too)

On a better note here are some photos of the bits added on :D
Here's the 2" lift kit going on de carbon front shocks and Pro comp ES 9000 on the rear with dislocation cones retention plates and shortened front turrets.

Got a set of 5 16" X 8 modular wheels (might be ordering tyres this week)

Only picture I got of the EGR delete, on the same day I fitted the decat and "sports" exhaust from paddock (i'll try upload the video soon)

and the most recent photo of it lifted, few more bits of welding a brake pipe and MOT and we should be on the road :D

Nice to see someone sorting a diso - often theyre not considered worth the effort!
Yeah I've seen discos being broken for bits/scrapped as people can't be bothered to save them, but I don't mind as getting all the welding done for a reasonable price

Very small update but all the welding is finally done, tyres are on order, extended brake lines fitted and had custom rock sliders made by a local company. Will hopefully get some photos by the weekend :)
Only photo I got of the rock sliders being made:

Looks good! Similar work to be done on yours that I have on mine so will be watching this!

Cheers man!

Went and picked up the tyres and rims today to get them fitted at work and finally got to take a look at my rock sliders!

Then attempted to fit the rims and tyres in the back of the golf and succeeded!

Rock sliders are fitted, just got a bulb/wiring to fix and then two copper rear brake lines to replace then fit the front extended brake hoses, and the rear trailing arm bushes and then finally ready for it's MOT!

Right so today was rather productive, got my CB radio fitted(just need to wire up the aerial) and as I have an automatic with EDC I did the EVRY mod that people go on about as I don't have a boost pin to modify and it was puffing some black smoke when I revved it up on the drive, got the last extended brake line fitted just need to bleed them and one more trailing arm bushing to replace and it'll be on the road :D

Haven't posted in a while but been thoroughly enjoying the disco going to canewdon offroad club,
IMG_2344.jpg

but a bit of a downside the brakes were getting low and on my way to work spat out a brake pad so I've had to leave it on site until its fixed :(
IMG_2754.jpg

and tonight picked up a sump/steering guard for a tenner at a local scrappy
IMG_2759.jpg

Should be getting my custom front bumper made and a second hand winch

Got my rear brakes all sorted last week was a bit of a job to say the least, I never knew how involved it was compared to standard car so bit of a learning curve there haha, also fitted my new bumper/steering guard and snorkel.

Well so far this weekend I did 60 miles to £20 which is only 16mpg and I'm sure I should be getting more, I did have the evry mod but didn't like it so I'm tempted to do the same and fit a manual pump to see if I get better mpg

Not a lot changed recently thinking of selling it soon to fund a defender project but if that falls apart I have a few ideas for the disco.

Did you ever make up the brackets for that light bar? I'm thinking of getting a similar one soon. 52" or something. Got any pictures of the bar working and/or a link and that?

Don't sell it! Disco all the way

I never made any but I did end up buying these (link below) just for the reason it was an easy option and it fits perfect, I have no close up pictures but you can kind of see it on post #13 and 14 dude!

Thanks matey, seen those before just don't like the price of them! But if you say they fit perfect and are good quality then must be worth it!
