Red sport light on when ignition is switched off

HI all
Quick bit of techinical help require and i'm sure somebody will have the answer.
When I switch the ignition off why does the red sport mode lamp illuminate and stay on, I have noticed if you press the sport mode button it goes out. Is this normal?
My RR is a 1998, 2.5 DSE Auto.

usaully the park light stays on until you press the sport button!

There should be no lamps on the H gate module once the becm has gone to sleep. Its a very useful tool for checking if the becm goes to sleep (on an auto). To check, remove ignition key and switch off interior lights, wait 2mins and all tell tale lamps on the H gate should go out. When they do, the becm is asleep. If the lamp does not go out becm is staying awake (not good, if its permanently staying awake, battery will be flat if engine not run for a couple of days).

Thanks guys for you help. I just checked and the red sport mode light does go out after approx 2 minutes. As soon as I opened the door and the interior lamp came on the red sport mode lamp became active. I take it this is normal operation?

Yep, so long as BECM sleeps well, so will you. Otherwise you and prolly the neighbours will get a rude awakening!
