I am joining the local Landy club to do a bit of off road stuff. I have been told that I need a front recovery point and another spring on the accelerator to return it to idle. The obvious answer is to attach a tow hook to the metal? (front bumper). Will this be 'beefy' enough or am I likely to have it ripped off the first time I get stuck. I was looking at drilling and bolting it rather than welding. Does anyone have a plan for the additional spring? Any advice welcome.Nige

Disco MK1 I assume? If so then you have some very handy locations to bolt recovery points right on the front of you chassis, where you would fit an A-Bar or steering guard etc.

if your doing some off roading regulary then a steering guard is a must really, I bought one for £60 at the LRO show few months back, with 2 built in recovery points, and I got some built into my a-bar as well, which i didnt know untill i looked heh.

good choice mate, amount of times I've seen people have expensive repair problems (major steering damage, holed sumps etc) from an offroad slip or slide which could of been saved by just spending less than £70, makes you wonder.

I could try but no promises. Send your phone number and bank details, she will nag you to death on one and empty the other quicker than a V8 disco deals with a tank of unleaded.
