I`ve got a 1991 H reg, Discovery 1, 200 TDI, which is completelystandard. I`m aftersome front recovery points that would fit onto the front, but am finding it difficult to find suppliers. Any ideas?
funds don`t allow for me to fit a retrofit steel bumper. i`ve currently got the standard tow-bar anchor type plate on the back of the vehicle.
thanks

I am in the same situation with my 300tdi, I will be making some for my own that will still retain the std bumper and lower "bib", once I have tried them out I will be making some more. Yella Disco is at my place on Sunday so he will be looking at my idea to see if I am going in the right direction (2 minds is better than one).

if it works out okay, give me a post and i`ll see if we can come arrangement if one`s going spare! thanks

Just get hold of a pair of forged jate rings, not the welded ones they may not be as strong, they go striaght on to the chassis mountings and do not mean a load of fabricating or drtilling of chassis members.from £15 a pair with HT bolts.

for that matter anyone know strongest place for defender front point? is it the two flat plate rings bloted on chasis just below bumper?

Not sure if it's the same over there or not, but when Toyota Dealers fit bull bars, they have to remove the huge std tow hook from the chassis rail at the front. They then just chuck them in a box in the workshop and sell them for a couple of bucks to thems what asks. Original replacement article is over $30 and the s/hand ones (but unsused) come with the bolts to bolt to bull bars or rails or towbars or whatever. Just a thought.

Has no-one seen the hi-lift jacking / recovery points you can get for the chassis. They bolt onto the bumper points on the chassis rails and steering arm one side spare hole on tuther. They are also compatible with the valance on the stock bumper as theres a hole for them to come out of ..

I picked up a set from sodbury for a £5.00 used

Seen them in the mags but cant remember who did them .. anyone help out ?

Either that of buy a steering guard with recovery eyes ! some steel ones are well cheap ...

Don't know if I'm a bit late to get in on this but if you are intersted I have a pair of 10mm or 12mm (??? not sure which) Steel from towing points in my house.... They are designed to bolt onto 2 points on the front - where the bumper bolts go and 1 further back - on one side it has the bottom of the steering box bolted to it on the other side its just a hole....

I can get a photograph of these and take some measurements if this would be of any help....

They bolt - 1 to each chassis rail - and have a towing eye at the front... you can also weld on a reciever tube for a 90/110 high lift jack adapter....

I was going to fit them but just can't bear not to have my bull bar and lights on.... which I can also jack up anyway...

Drop me an email if I can be of help, Tony.
