I need some half decent recovery points on my disco, and until my old car is sold i have very little spare cash. Was either looking at JATE rings but IMO i think they look horrible, i much prefer the ones like on a defender, that bolt onto the bumper, is it ok to do this on a standard disco bumper if i bolt them on infront of where the outruggers are on the chassis?

I'd certainly want some strengthening plate behind the bumper to spread the load, HT bolts and make sure the hitch is actually rated for over 4 ton, IMHO .. ;)

Nothing worse than a recovery point becoming a missile ...

Well, there is, but that involves anatomy ... ;)

If you dont want to buy a new bumper do not use it or put anything on it for recovery it WILL bend like a sheet of paper I know it happened to me using a plate behind the ring thinking I had strengthend it. I looked a proper tit has my bumper folded in two.

Jate rings are the answer. How can they look horrible? You can hardly see the things once they're fitted and surely it don't matter what they look like.
