Hi, was just wondering were the best place is for a disco 2 front recovery, or is it best to just fit a winch bumper? Do intend to get one in the near future , but was wondering if there's anywhere to use for now, just in case. Also are there any high lift jacking points, or again is that winch bumper only ? . Thanks for any advice

I got the silly ally bull bar on my td5 .I have used the high lift jack a few times on the bar across the top of the head light had no issues lifting the vehicle
unfortunately I don't have any recover points installed I have them in the shed but never had time to fit them
I have been towed home a few times just using the cross member located infront of the steering arms

I do have a old series disco 1 with a blown motor out side my house they installed the recovery points to the steel bull bar they are bolted to the bull bar but in line with the chasis rails
if you have the plastic bumper on the front your going to need to access the chassis rail but means cutting a hole into the plastic

If you have an intact front bumper, sell it fast before you damage it & destroy it's resale value! Intact, it will sell for almost enough to cover the cost of buying almost any of the good aftermarket steel bumpers.
Nearly all will have recovery point options built-in & some hi-lift jacking points too.
Remember you don't have to buy a winch version, there are non-winch versions available with less overhang, that look better & have no impact on front approach angle - unlike most of the winch bumpers!

Yeh I suppose selling one to cover the cost of the other makes the best sense , maybe even a swap with someone who's restoring back to standard, high lift is not essential for me nelly , was just wondering if it was a possibility really, not a fan of farm jacks , scare me lol . Just would like somewhere for a shackle so it makes rescue a bit easier than laid under the disco tying on straps . Be a while before I hit the deep stuff though , as I need some A/T tyres , on R/T 's now and they have loads of tread left , maybe another swop oportunity. Thankyou for your input guys , much appreciated
