Recommend me a winch

Got stuck out rabbiting the other night, miles from anywhere, 2 in the morning, you know the story. So Im thinking of a demountable winch for emergencies. Must be cheap, light but still able to do the job. Any recommendations?

they are just tirfor/jet hoist copies - they look ok and are bound to be more reliable than any leccy one - but i've not seen one up close so can't really comment on their quality - forget the small one it's not man enough

They're well cheap compared to a proper tirfor. Probably made in china. I'm looking about for a second hand one no more leccie winches for me.

Yep the group that did the black route at Langdale today probably wished they had a tirfor. Once they'd fried their electric winches trying to get themelves unstuck.:hysterically_laughi

Do tirfors work well with ground anchors? Im not doing any serious challenges, its just an emergency measure.

Yes they as long as you have a solid anchor point they'll work fine.
