You have to remove the trim panel. The kit should have paper templates for fixing the riv nut hole positions and the larger holes in the trim panel itself.

don't be too bold when cutting the trim panel, the template doesn't line up as perfectly as it should, smaller holes gently enlarged a little at a time is the way to go
