Rear window dropped and won't close?

Hi,

My Wife closed the rear tail gate on the freelander and the rear window dropped half way down, then when she pressed the button in the vehicle to close the window it dropped right down and now just makes a whirring noise when you try and close it.

Anyone have any ideas what the fault could be?

best buy the complete kit I have brought just the cables before now and ended up buying the complete kit so wasted money hope this helps
