Anyone help me out here, for no apparent reason, the back door lock has ceased to function, the back window has ceased to function too... I can't open the door, even with the key. I checked the fuse, but that is good...
the rear window wiper & washer still works though... any ideas out there...?
Help!

Cheers...Skinpig

the only thing i can think of is that the wires have chaffed on the metal frame of the door but that would only happen if the grommet has dislodged, as for the key not opening it, if you never use the key sometimes the lock itself siezes up. if the key turns in the lock then i am at a loss, if the key won't turn then spray some releasing oil in the lock and keep wiggling the key ;)

The freelander rear door requires the rear window to be lowered prior to opening. You may find that the switch in the rear door handle as gone awry.

I will go wiv Yellow on this there is a type of door detection device this would show on your door warning system and you would not be able to operate your rear window , well even if you have got some electrical fail you should still be able to open with key, so your latch [mechanical] is jammed , try the yella's idear with spray and switch on off ya fob key see if you can free it. . .

Sometimes the switch in the latch does not operate whent he latch opens. It should not stop the do from opening though, check for loose connectros, chafed wires, dodgy handle switch etc.

If you do have the problem that the electrics think the rear door is closed when it is in fact open, there is no need to replace the latch. Just file a small burr off that stops a plastic lever from moving.
