anyone know how much play there should be in the rear wheel bearing on the 1990 classic?

it seems to go from a few mm play to dead tight within one face on the lock washer.

the bearings are quite new.

so there was a few mm of wobble , shall I call him back? he was on about enfloat and all sorts, engine and sheetmatal is my bag on these beasts , not too sure on the rest?

Teknikly ya supposed to use a dial gauge and measure the endfloat and change shims etc to suit. but that's for the halfshaft not the bearings. and the shims go behind the circlip. but for wheel bearings the universal rule of thumb is: tighten em as much as you can then back the nut off 1/4 turn and spin wheel if wheel turns freely and there's no wobble then fit locking washer and outer lock nut and bend locking washer over nuts to prevent em from coming loose.

I would just add that rather than backing off the nut a quarter turn, it should be torqued to a rather lowley 4 ft Ibs.

thanks guys will forward him the message and see where I get.

BUSTERBUS , its having the time mate, plus I dont want to waste the time I have on the 1990 when I can spen it on the 72 :D
