Has anyone attempted to move the 2nd row seats backwards in a defender 110 to improve legroom? If so, how did you do it. I have a growing family and a wife that wants to sit in the front again. Any suggestions ?

Hi could i ask why are you having problem's with room in 110!
As i have a 89 110 csw and a wife 3 kids 2 dogs and go on camping trips quite regular! And am never short of room!
3 kids have car seats in 2nd row and dont have problems with leg room!
I am over 6 foot and not a small bloke and have no need to put seat all the way back! So i am a little confused why you would want to move the seat back!!!! (i could easily fit 3 adults in 2nd row seats instead if needed)
Because i have even used all room in back as well so we have had 4 kids in child seats me driving and 5 adults in back with a pram as well before now!
If you still want more leg room on 2nd row seats you could move all brackets for seats back a couple of inches but i cant see the point in this but could be easily done with differnt mounting plates or modifiing originals Pretty much anything can be done in a landrover!!!!!:D (within reason lol)

Thanks for that. I can appreciate what you are saying, just that like you I have my seat right back and when I have adult passengers their legs are pushed into the seat back. My initial thought was to move the bracket but there doesn't seem to be too much room to play with because of the wheel arch box section. The ideas i've had so far are to construct a box bulkhead across the two existing wheel arch box sections and mount the seats on it and ditch the frame that's already there. The other is to replace the three rear seats with two fold down ones (like the ones Exmoor have for sale) which would mean they could be mounted on the existing box section directly. What I have seen in the LRO magazine is an advert for a dormobile conversion that looks like they cut away the wheel arch box section. Is this possible ?
