Rear Reverse light/work light

Looking to fit a rear led light, mainly to be used to help when reversing.
Anyone have any advise on any decent ones or best position?
Seen everything from ones that mount on the rear number plate light, to cheap eBay ones to mount on the guttering...

Depends what you want to do.
Mount high & rotate onto tow ball or For further away work.

by number plate height will shine only straight back
Unsure what makes are good now.

Do you want to just upgrade the existing reverse light or wire in a separate work-light which can be used when reversing?

I have a pair of NAS style Le Perei reverse lights (one each side) and they light up even the darkest area whatever the weather, fully road legal and don't need any wiring modifications.

My reverse light triggers a relay that operates my work lamp.

I use one of these, all metal body, very well made, pretty decent bit of kit.

2 spots mounted on rear of the roof triggered by a relay off the reverse switch, Like daylight.

It’ll be mainly just for reversing, so would you say one or 2 high mounts either side fitted on the guttering is better or just one above the number plate maybe?
I’ve seen these lights/fitting below in the photos.
Also did you find it best wired straight into the reverse feed or better to have a switch built in? Cheers

I mounted bog standard 12V worklights on my roof-rack - two at the back and one on each side:

They're on a switch down by the fog-light switch rather than triggered off the reverse lights.

That was a while ago - everything's LED these days, so if I did it again I'd probably go for one of the lights CREE do...
Having the lights on the side is handy, as I used to have to do a reverse turn through a gate to get into my yard and it was trick to see just out of the back.

Im not sure where regs say you can put a reverse light these days, if they say anything at all.

So, if mine were a hard top Id put them up high, on a switch + reverse triggered relay. Thats where mine was.

Its a soft top now so it sits lower,

Either way works but I did find up high was a better reverse light as it spread the light out behind me more, low down is more of a long distance focused kind of light.

I’ve ordered two Cree spotlights to put up high, going to wire them into the reverse feed but with a switch on the dash. Cheers for the advice gentlemen

If it's possible to leave them on (driving forward) you'll need a tell tale lamp on the dash I believe.

fitted the bearmach LED direct Series 3 replacement unit last night

its about 5 times as bright as the bulb it replaced.
dissapointed that its the same light unit with a cheapo LED panel wedged in and some sealant papped around the lens
