Hi all, quite a simple one, I'm changing the oil seal on the rear diff - as what started as a leak, turned into a full on spray of oil over the underside last time I took it out. On the plus side - it now has a nice protective coating over everything under there!

Anyway, prop undone, split pin out, nut undone, flange off - and there's the seal!

Can I get it out? Nope!

I've read to be careful not to scratch anything, so I'm trying my hardest to be careful, but my god this thing is stuck in there! it seems to be quite brittle too, I tried tugging on it with some long-nose pliers and I'm just pulling little chunks off of it.

So, any tips? any hand tools?

Ta.

When i did the seal in my series diff i broke a long screwdriver with a 15mm shank trying to get it out
I have since got myself a seal puller draper 37439 (other pullers are available) and its great never had a problem getting a seal out since

Simply drill or knock a hole in the seal with a chisel and use that hole to pry it out with the puller
