When I use the handset to unlock my 1996 Disco, the front doors unlock OK, but on the two rear passenger doors the door locking buttons do not fully come up therefore the doors remain locked, I have to unlock the rear passenger doors from the inside, not a big problem just inconvenient having to reach in, anyone know how to rectify this problem or is it some thing I'll have to live with.

There is no problem when locking the rear doors using the remote, the door locking buttons retract fully.

I dunno if its different set up now but my 2001 TD5 you have to press the button once for the front drivers door, again for the rear door and passenger door and again for the boot. May be different now tho not sure

No, when I press the button on the remote all door locking buttons come up, it's the ones for rear passenger doors, they come up as they should but when I try to open the door they seem to retract back down slightly locking the door.

hi there had the same problem on my classic which uses the same locking mechanism all your problem is two small springs one on each side they are a common problem you do have to remove the lock catch and can be a bit fiddley but can be replaced even though land rover say they cant (they will try to sell you two new catches expensive ) you can get the spings off ebay or i have a number of a guy i got mine off but make sure you get two differant springs because they are handed hope this helps chris

How many springs are required for each lock.

Where can I get the springs.

Can someone write a step by step procedure "idiots guide" on how to change the springs.

1 per lock and you can get the set off ebay, I would not give the guy on ebay the money because £14 for some little springs that cost 1p each is madness.

Look for them on ebay then you know what you need to look for elsewhere if you have the time/patience.

Best way is to take the whole latch out, then you will see the broken one sitting there, easy job to do with the latch out, and its not too bad to get that out either.

I'm another one for the step by step idiots guide if someones gonna do one, my back door does the same

hi there the guy i bought my pair of springs from sent a step by step guide to changing them with the springs as for the price they were £7.50 for the 2 springs required which considering land rover wanted £43 +vat for each latch i thought this was a bargin i did try to get them locally and being in the trade stripped a few other latches but no springs were the same and a local spring maker wanted £25 to make me the 2 springs because it was low volume if you want a copy of the instruction that i have just email me and i will email them back to you i tried to put a link on here but the file was too big :( any thing else please feel free
