Freelander 1 Rear Indicators from bumper to Reversing Lights position.

Hi, 2003 TD4
Has anyone done this? I want to move the rear Indicators from the Bumper to where the Reversing Lights are and vice-versa the Reversing lights. Surely it"s just a matter of altering the wiring, Change to Amber Bulbs where the Reversing lights are now.
The reason I ask I had an idiot truck driver who was tail gating me nearly plough into me when I signalled to turn left and I know he shouldn"t have been that close but at least he would have seen me signalling if they were higher.

Yes, both single filament lamps, same wattage, swap live feeds and bulb colour.

I went further, I put double filament bulbs in the old rear fog location and reconfigured it to give brake light up top where fogs are, fogs and reverse in bumper, indicator where reverse was and all 4 reds for side lights to put them higher up and retain the low level sidelights for when the rear door is open.

Much much better on the motorway now with the elevated lamps.

I had to fit a double filament lamp socket in the old rear fog position, that was the only 'non wiring mod'.

Yes, download rave manual if you haven't already got it. Wire colours are shown, draw out what you want. I then ordered the correct colour wires to remake the loom to keep it to 'book' for any future owners.

The lamp holder I really cannot recall. I just measures the hole in the lamp and searched for a dual filament holder that fit. I seem to remember a few mins with a small file for the new locking lugs.

Haha I wanted to do that for years. I even looked up the electrical info. From memory you just need to connect and run wires from one cluster area to the next so the correct bulbs and light illuminate.

Essentially extend all the current wiring you have from it’s current location to its new location then swap the bulbs around for the correct colours and your done.

For connector plugs, just cut them off to extend the wiring then solder them back on at the new end.
