MY 2002 Disco 2 is developing small spots of rust on the inside frames of both rear doors - only where the frame enters the bottom rubber seals..

anyone any thoughts on the hassle that is going to ensue if I decide to remove the seal, rub down and repaint - assume this need the inside door card removed, etc etc?

also, paint is a matt black, anybody have any good tips with replacement paint?

Mine is doing this on the outside. I put some waxoyl on the rust and it seems to have stopped it. It looks untidy though. This top door frame is available as a separate part, as it bolts off from the door.

I saw a price on the web but it was very expensive. Maybe £150 odd. It may have been Rimmers that have them in their catalogue. A 2nd hand door would be ideal to take these parts off, or maybe one of the breakers would supply this part separately.

If you get a price or come up with anything let me know.

Cheers

Andy

Ouch.. both doors are still showing through rust after painting temporarily with a grey sealing paint.. I thought I would simply paint black over that....

but if the tops do bolt off then I'm going to take it apart, rub down and treat properly and then respray & rebuild... what a pain for just these spots but they are not to be ignored this winter!

quick update - my rust is on the outside of the doors, but on the inside frame vertical section i.e. the bit that splits the main window from the quarter light..

both doors in exactly the same place. I have looked at several other 2002 Disco 2S in car parks and a lot saeem to be showing similar signs..

..come the warmer weather I'm going to strip off and spray them up..

any ideas on the best matt black paint for the job anyone?
