Rear door won't open

The rear door on my 99 Disco Series I stopped opening. The lock mechanism works, and the inner and outer handles seem to move fine. I thought maybe it was the cold, but I parked in a heated garage for 8 hours and that didn't do anything. Ideas?
 
It must be the linkage between the handle and the latch or the lock is not properly working, try the key in the lock turn it to unlock and open it at the same time.
 
make sure that the outside handle has returned all the way out. You may have to use a screw driver up the side of the handle to move it all the way out. the door should then open. use loads of WD40 on it to make sure it does not do it again. (had the same problem with mine)
 
h,i common one this,prise off the rear badge,be carefull,then insert wd40 extension tube and give it some dont be shy with it,this should sort it if not then you are looking at new springs or actuators hope this helps,the wd40 sorted mine,phil
 
Thanks I got it open. Lots of WD-40 through the back latch, and pried open the cover inside the door and let fly with the WD with extension tube. Thanks everyone!
