After a huge spring clean and TLC I have decided not to part with my trusty (not) steed and sink some more money in to her (sorry, just cant help it)
I have repaired many of the niggles and have booked a full service along with plugs and leads (they are only 8 years old...…) and fixing a few oily bits (valve cover gaskets weeping)
One thing I have stumbled on now that I have fixed all of the lights etc is that the rear passenger door does not activate the courtesy lights or the message centre to say the door is open. All of the other doors turn the courtesy lights on along with the message centre. Before I start ripping things apart further where would one look first.
Having mentioned this, I had posted a very long time ago about various EAS issues I have now resolved all of these with one exception, the EAS is not halted when opening the doors (it does with the brake though)
with the one door not sending the signal could this be the culprit.
I have never really noticed the issue with the door in the past cuz I only sit in the front and cant say I have carried many passengers in the arse end, plus my days of using the back seat are long gone...……;)

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated

Probably a good choice. These cars are worth naff all second-hand but should be fixable for a long while to come. Plus, they don't need Adblue, whatever the hell that is.

Latch mechanism is part of the lock actuator so maybe take that apart and look. I think the courtesy lights are controlled by the BECM so it might be a fried circuit in there. @martyuk might know. My rear passenger courtesy light doesn't work either and now I think about it it stopped about the time Marty & I swapped over my BECM (well, I watched and handed tools while chatting).

I had the BECM replaced with a refurbished one from Rick the Pick a while back, solved loads of issues I must say, although I never rule anything out I cant imagine it would be at fault. Do you remember the days when the courtesy lights were operated by a little button on the door frame, life was so much easier then :)

I do. My father always had a Morris Traveller. No courtesy light in the back that I remember. And the windows used to stick a bit on their sliders or the catch that held the quarterlight one shut would snap and then it was freezing all winter - back when we had proper winters, of course.

I'm probably down in Poole this week (Thursday or Friday) not sure if I'll have much spare time but I'll chuck the Nanocom in the car.
Not sure if nanocom will show anything on the courtesy light or not tbh but worth a try if all else fails.
Does anyone know if you can force courtesy lights in BECM diag mode?

I believe so. Trying to remember where I've seen it. Switches under BECM section?

Hi Wazza,
How the heck are you, been a long time!
That is a very kind offer, if you are passing that would be great, however, it is not really a big issue so if you are busy I would hate to be using up your time down here. If you do pop by I am around after 14:00 tomorrow and around all day Friday up to 16:15.
I do wonder if the nano would tell me why the doors don't cancel the EAS when open, again not a biggy, I have lived with it for a couple of years with no issues.

Cheers and many thanks

It's going to be monday/Tuesday when I'm down now. I'll bring the Nanocom down and try and have a quick look for you whilst I'm there.

Again, thank you
The car is in the garage for servicing and some work to be done on Tuesday for the whole day so wouldn't be accessible.
Monday is fine but as I said don't worry if you cant make it, I know how valuable time off is!

Cheers
