Rear Diff leak

i got a wet patch around the bottem of the diff and was wondering what you would recommend to to take off and reseal it back up with..

last time i did a leak like this was on a mondeo sump and i used some black stuff that was great was thick and sorted the problem but at £18 a tube its a little expensive

im going to fix it but thought it would be a gasket sealant they used

Is it leaking from the back plate or the driveshaft seals?

Normally best to drop the diff to reseal the backplate as it can be a bitch to remove all traces of oil so you can get a good seal........it can be done in situ though if you take your time and make sure everything is bone dry and the mating surfaces are well cleaned.
