Does anyone know if or where i can get a replacement bearing for the final drive unit, where the rear prop shaft goes? Sorry if this isn't very technical but that's because i'm not either. Thanks

Covering all the bases.....the drive unit at the front of the rear prop is rebuildable with a bearing kit. Regarding the diff at the rear of the prop, then a good bearing supplier should be able to find a like-for-like replacement, but most if not all will need to have the original bearing to take measurements.

The two support bearings for the rear prop are available from Land Rover or any LR parts dealer.

It is difficult to advise more precisesly about suppliers as I don't know where you are, but a quick check thru the yellow pages or a Google search should find you someone.

Given that you yourself claim not to be technical then I would advise against carrying out bearing replacements in the 'final drive unit' as there are some pre-loads that have to be set correctly.

HTH :)

Has anyone ever experienced, and found out why they have had a repeat failure of the Prop bearings? twice in 1 year.
Prop bangs on the chassis when going round a corner... Is it due to poor quality bit's or is there something else causing this to happen?
