Rear Crossmember - NRC236 Best supplier

Hello ,
I have a 109 Dormobile that needs some chassis work including a new Rear Crossmember - NRC236.
I see the genuine ones are £400 but the after market ones look too cheap at £100.
Are there any OEM suppliers of equivalent quality ? Does anyone know who supplies Land Rover ?

Its not quite as simple as just the rear x member, you need to thoroughly check the chassis all the way between the rear x member and the front of the rear springs, also check between bump stops and chassis itself and top of rear soring hangers.
Then you can decide if you need x menber with extensions, 1/4 or 1/2 chassis
Well worth paying more for a galved one

I put a Bearmarch one on my series and stupidly put off protecting it properly. It’s only lasted six or seven years and already holed along the bottom. The black jap they come in is next to useless and needs completely covering in something up to the job. Although I did slap the odd coat externally I never got round to the inside and it’s rotted from the inside out.

DDS Metals, made in Coventry, available from Bits4Landys or gdiproducts on eBay. Made of decent steel, great quality, looks factory. Just bought one for another 88. Better than pretty much everything else out there at a surprisingly reasonable price.

The one that came off was also a replacement, but made of much thinner steel, while the DDS one is the same specs as original and is much more substantial.

As stated, check the chassis legs carefully, if in doubt, get the one with extensions or even a 1/4 chassis as the price difference isn't significant when considering the extra work if the legs are rotten.

On the outside I use Bilt Hamber Etchweld aerosol, welds covered by satin black paint and cover the whole crossmember and chassis legs with Dynax UC clear wax. I also spray etch primer on the welds inside the chassis rails using the multi-directional lance for B-H chassis wax. Then on top of that I use Dynax S50 cavity wax. It won't rust after that.
