Need to replace rear crossmember on my 90 however its over £300 from devon 4x4 for a "heavy duty" one or £100 from simmonites for one without extensions. is ther a reason for this other than devon 4x4 are tryin to rip people off.

how much did you expect the be paying for a big lump of metal with numerous folds, welds and a protective finish ?

im just wondering why one is 3 times the cost of the other one! and if the cheaper one is just gonna rot away within a couple of years of will just bend if i need towing out

One with extension is much the better option, but I don't see the need for a 'heavy duty' one. However........I have had to weld up seams and make corrections to cheaper pattern crossmember before now.

Yer pays yer money yer takes yer choice :D

hmm. its already been replaced once. u can see wher the legs of the replacment one hav been welded on. will it be simple to remove the old one? just grind it off?

Some of the replacement ones I've seen are absolute rubbish. Check the quality and make sure it's straight before you part with your money.

yer well thats y i thort id get peoples opinions first. anyone had experience of either one?? am a bit wary of the cheaper one as hav seen some fairly flimsy looking ones before.

The devon one is built by them, and properly a similar design to the cross member they do with a winch mount. I have just spent out on one of there winch bumpers and if its half as good as that its brilliant.
if you what just a cheep one try paddock or the like, think most of them stock ****part ones.
