Rear/Back Passenger Door Not Opening

Hi there i thought i would post some information about a stuck door issue i had with my Freelander 1

I was unable to open my N/S rear/back passenger door using either the exterior or interior door handles, the locking mechanism was working you could hear it clunk when locking & unlocking and the plunger was moving up and down.

I tried all manor of routine using the key to lock using the fob and the internal door lock switch but to no avail so took to the task of removing the door card (not simple when the doors stuck shut) to have a look (well more of a feel as you can't see much) at the connections from the handles and all was correct and in order. Next step i removed the door seal/rubber and flicked the child lock latch into to opposite position and success the door opened using the outside handle.

With the door finally open i tried the child safety in the two positions and it seems that it works with the child safety activated but you have to hold it in an exact position to get it to work normally.

Is there a fix for this or would i be looking at a complete new unit?

I would get hold of another unit unless you take the old one a part to see what the problem is
