Hi all,

I get the occasional odd clonk from my 90 definitely sounds like it's coming from the rear. It's very intermittent and doesn't do it some times.

It seems to occur like when I reverse into my drive and I go over the kerb. Or sometimes when a change of speed occurs such as breaking harshly then re accelerating.

Then sometimes it can do it when you set off in first quite quickly.

What I have done is check all the bushes underneath with a bar and they all seem fine.

I have also replaced the rear half shafts and drive flanges.

The rear a frame ball joint seems solid enough but I am wondering what I should do next to try and eliminate this odd popping sound from time to time.

Is it worth chucking a new a frame ball joint on just for the sake or what?

It's only done 64,000 miles and other than this odd pop which sometimes doesn't happen for ages it's superb.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

checked/greased your prop shaft ujs recently ?

i thought mine was coming from the drive member/half shafts as thats where the sound was soundlikg it was from.

changed them - no change.

few weeks later my front prop shaft uj parted company. replaced that and the noise disapeared.

Hi yeah I grease them very often but whether previous owners did I don't know. However I've had a bit of a swing and wiggle on them and they seem solid.

Is there a more invasive way of checking them?

Also would I not be getting more trouble than what I am?

Such as loud vibrations and rumblings and also the noise appearing more frequently?

It's so hard to find with it not doing it every day you see
