Hi all!
Sorry for what is proberly a real stupid question. But ive just brought a set of 22" wheels for my P38..How can i tell if i need Spigots and new type nuts?
From the specs ive read on the spigots they are real thin and before i go pick the wheels up,im just wondering if its gonna be blatently obvious when offered up if i'll need them or not..Also from what i can tell the P38 nuts are short and the later type are long...How do i tell which nuts i need?
Guess when i offer them up tommorow all may become obvious?
Cheers

Ok,so done the 1000 mile round trip to pick the wheels up,,Got them home and sods law they need different nuts..My P38 uses fat nuts. And it looks like i need a slimmer "waist" to the nut..Are there just the two types?
Also..As i cant fit these yet im just pre looking,,but anyone who has fitted 22" wheels,How did you get on with the front mud flap as it looks like they will rub? Did you just cut them down or remove them or get away with them?
Cheers all

Personally, I think 22" rims are just a tad too far size wise. They do rub and its a huge pain.

I'd rather stick to 19"'s max which gives bling and handling at a sensible size.

Have already got the 22's...Had them home for around 4 hours and so far 3 people have said ive done a wrong one in buying them!
Beggining to doubt myself now.I appreciate its to everyones taste, but ive seen a few P38's on 22" wheels..Are the problems/rubbing (rubbing mainly i guess) liveable with or rectifiyable?
What areas do they rub on? It looks like the front mudflaps are gonna be in the way.Do they rub in genral on steering?
Sorry for all the questions, but i gotta go do £40 on nuts Monday, and if 22's are that much of a pain and totall un-liveable with i'll consider moving them on...
Cheers All

If it were me? I'd move them on....

A P38 doesnt look quite right with 22"'s and they dont really fit properly without the rubbing which surely isnt doing your RR any good nor does it give full clearance and access round your wheels.

See if you can take them back in trade for 20"'s or 19"'s. Don't be afraid to see if they will allow one side of your RR to be fitted with your new rims.

Try before you buy!

If you want official LR L322 rims you need adapters which you can buy on eBay.

Personally i think the 22's are just not the thing, but it's only my opinion and if you like them then that's cool dude, you've got to look at it on the drive, (i think you'll find thats "pop")

Cheers, Nick.

Hiya mate ive got 22s on my 94 dse with 285 30 22s and they clear the arches and mud faps even on the lowest suspension setting . hope this helps

Cheers for all the comments/info guys
Am gonna do as suggested and go get the nuts and try em..
Main reason for getting them was i wanted bigger rims and the 18 Hurricaines were silly money..The 16" originals were bald, and sometimes its cheaper to buy 2nd hand rims and tyres than just tyres..These were well cheap so were worth ago..Will update this afternoon..
Thanks all!

Yeah finally got them on yesterday..
Am still torn,i kinda like em,but is in my mind that they may look abit too out of proportion..

Havent really been out for a ride in it yet,but around the block it they dont seem to rub at all! Guess MPH may be out a bit.I'll have to check it with the Sat Nav.....
Have noticed that it seems to drag you into every rut in the road though..Which i was kinda expecting, but suppose i'll get used to it...
Cheers for all your comments guys...Appreciate it

A couple of pictures..
Suppose colour coding is next..... Never ends!!!

Nice pics!

But I still personally think as you mentioned above, they look way out of proportion.

I think 19"' rims look best but thats MY personal taste. Its a compromise on size and look/bling.

Hi.
Nice car, I think what is throwing you is the brightness and the width of the spokes which coupled with the fact they are new/strange to your eye.
See what you think after a couple of days.

Cheers, Nick.

Yes they look big but that's the intention with Big wheels, no?

I went for 20's in the end because of all the ride quality issues I'd heard off.

I never suffer any jarring with 20's.

I saw your wheels on ebay, looked a very good deal.

True!
I like the 20's on yours alot, but just cant afford them..These were a good deal, especially as i needed tyres anyway.
As Nick said, now ive had them on a week or two,ive got used to the size and just the fact they looked different,so guessing i'll hang onto them.
Be honest, other than the fact they like to jump into any groove they find in the road! living with thems ok,they dont seem to rub at all, even on low setting,(which is handy as the seal seems to have gone u/s in my pump the last few days and takes forever to pump up!)and i have mud flaps.

How funny, I fitted 20's instead of new tyres too. The chap bought the car knocked £500 off the price because it needed 4 new tyres. I just put that saving towards the 20's so in effect they only cost £500!!

I love the way big wheels look on the P38.
