Anybody got an idea just how long the limit is on warranty claims for the rear door seal. Mine's been seeing how much water it can store in the boot and I think it's time to replace it.

If yours is a 5 door prior to VIN WA 601478 you might have luck if you go to your dealer and try the "this is a known problem, it should have been recalled."

I think that as it is seven years after this was acknowledged as a problem, both you and I will have problems with this approach!

Meanwhile, I'm thinking of getting some tadpoles to swim in the cubby this spring.

Cheers

Check it is the seal David, put a running hose around the outside of door and look for ingress.
I found mine to be condensation from the, cubby hole lid, you would not believe how much water builds up.
Some owners have drilled holes in the lid, but i have removed mine until the summer.

Hey David ,Fredlander's quite right.
I've got a Freelander Hardback, and had a cubby like a fishtank,I too removed the cubby box lid and no longer have built in aquarium.
Give that a try it could save you quite a few quid, after all a free fix is better than a costly one.

i have took the whole carpet/cubby lining out. Punched out the drain hole maybe that'll work. Or maybe the fish will just escape!

Where exactly does the rear door seal fail and let water in? I looked at mine the other day and thought the top corners were looking a bit perished. Touch wood, she's water tight so far !

Yeah, me too. The last thing I want is a pond in the boot.
I use the cubby hole for locking up the stereo and sat nav when I'm out in the wilderness.
Wet cubby hole = broken gadgets. Not good ;)
