Installed my 200tdi last winter but rushed the wiring at the end, and tbh it was s**t. Started getting intermittent total power failure due to the main ignition wire faulting so thought it was really time i did it properly.

I'm doing two things - firstly re-wiring properly and secondly building a metal front for the dash - sprayed black. The plastic one is dying and I don't want to pay for a new one so thought i'd build a metal front for it so the displays are still mounted in the plastic housing, but, all the switches are on clean metal - it also removes all the blank switch holes as I haven't got all the original switches and have added other ones now.

I started taking photos although forgot to take more as it went along - i'll get some more tomorrow...

This is the wiring pre switch installation - I also used some more of the black special tape stuff to make it look neater later on.

I used white plastic 'click lock' connectors to make it easy to install and remove the dash in the future. All the wires are soldered and crimped into the metal pins so should be secure.

The dash pre-re-wire - It's a lot neater now :)

Another plus side to all this is that my heater hose finally stays in place for the demister on the drivers side!

Wow, that's smart... ok you've now given me a new task, time to rip out all the tired black plastic stuff and start from scratch i thnik. I have a computer mounted in my dash so cut away some of the foam and it looks quite tatty - seeing the results of your has made me think i should just make the whole thing properly and customise it as required :)

Might have to invest in a bigger sheet metal bender though

Question though... you have no ignition barrel and no indicator stalk... I've read forward a bit further (though not to the end) and can't find any pics of what you did there... I like the switches you used from CBS though... might have to invest in some.
