re fitting a engine!!!! aaarrgghhhhh

any tips on actually getting a 200 tdi on to gear box, everthing is prepped correctly it just wont fukking go on! i think i'm gonna go mental,please help,it a series 3 gearbox in a s 3

have you got the clutch lined up properly?

Do you have the right bell housing?

Try turning the engine over with a socket on the bottem pully.
Sometimes you need to line up the splines with the clutch plate.

Are there any locating spigots on the engine which don't have corresponding holes in the bellhousing, or vise verser?

Yeah: what he said.

Have you got the series clutch so that it mates to the gearbox splines, did you check the clutch slid on the splines before assembly??

Is the engine in line with the gearbox shaft? trying to slide it on at a small angle can make it almost impossible to line up.


Take yer time, try and rush it and it will never go on, I know, ive had the tantrum.....

If you start getting wound up about it, stop, go and have a cup of tea, then when you have calmed down, try again.

have you removed the extra dowels and drilled out the 4 bottom holes for the studs?
