Rattle when alternator pressured?

Hi
My range rover p38 has a rattle when ever the alternator is put under pressure ie when lights are on. It doesn't do it at any other time! Has anyone an idea of what could be the cause?
Most grateful for any help

Could it not be a fuse making a noise?

hi debbiejane.
my disco alternator made horrid rattling noises when starting the engine, it also got very hot in a few minuets of running.

AA guy confirmed it was faulty.
it was charging, but showed the ignition no charge light as well.
Oh, it also made the fan belt smell hot/got hot quickly too.

had a ride home from camber sands Norfolk to essex by recovery
its what I pay for (mrs does in all honesty)

if your worried, then get it checked out!

Alternator bearings fooled ! Next it. Will go real tight. And knacker the drive belt !!!
