My original plastic instrument binnacle and frame have seen better days and is held together by self tappers. Removing it yesterday more bits broke off and it is now loose and sloppy!

I've heard about these Raptor metal replacements which seem about the same price as the plastic versions but less liable to break like the originals.

Has anybody here fitted one and if so is it good, worth the price etc?
Thanks in advance.

Can't it be taken out and resin repair the back ?

Lots of little bits plus missing corners from previous adventures, screw tabs gone, parts of it just crumbled!
Time for new one or a good 2nd hand one but as I mentioned they're not cheap (~£80-90 plus 30-40 for the frame) and the metal ones aren't much more.

I changed mine recently when I changed the bulkhead the old one started to crack and crumble. It was a good fit and solid. You just swap over the metal tabs the screws go through

I fitted the Raptor steel binnacle-mount some 10-years ago because as you say, the old plastic one just falls apart with age. Perfect fit and still doing its job.

Binnacle became available 2-years later and again, perfect fit.

I may be missing something here but what do you mean by this? I have fitted the metal frame from raptor as part of my rebuid but at this point am planning on using the original plastic clock binnacle as it has not yet broken and still has all of its mounting tabs. When these inevitably break off I will then replace it with the raptor binnacle.

If the binnacle is the same age as the mount then it is likely that it will be as fragile.
When you mount the (flexible) binnacle onto the new (steel) mount it may be pulling where before it did not and therefore you may loose a tab (or two).

I remember , not long ago , they were 30-40 quid from suppliers! Since Bearmach went bust it seems the prices for things has gone through the roof,
One of the benefits of owning a Landy was the low cost of spare parts but that went once BMW took over.

yepm after my binnacle fell off when off roading i changed the mount, the surround and the binnacle for the raptor ones - its very good and very solid. Expensive but it fits lvoely and doesnt rattle at all :)
