Hi All, new to the forum and needing help with a 93 classic 3.9v8 (lpg) the problem initially was a poor running/backfire on either fuels (worse on lpg) backfiring from what seemed the Passenger side. I subsequently found an awful lot of play in distibutor shaft (ie rotated 180. and the shaft rose up and dropped wherever it felt!)
Fitted new distibutor supplied by paddocks, but timing was a bit of a pig for guy doing it for me, 1 and 7 were still not firing right, checked the airflow meter to find its internals blown into the induction hose and subsequently fitted a replacement I inherited (new) also took libert of fitting K & N to assist airflow.
NO different, checked condition of rotor arm and cap, cleaned up and replaced with nearly new genuines of my old dizzy. Its had plugs and lucas leads and a coil, condencer in its recent past, the problem doesn't coincide with anything else done at that time.

Since using to test it started losing water, suspected misfire in manifold has cracked water jacket, subsequently replaced and fitters at Lovells could not be sure where to go next, possible catalyst broken up or RPI Eng. amplifier faulty (not very likely according to RPI- who suggested re-timing dizzy to work with re-mapped amplifier) anybody got any experience of this as the bottomless pit is drying up!! LOL

It does sound like the mis-fires from the left, (1,3,5 and 7) so catalyst blocked/broken up was going to get attention next, perhaps over-fuelling as a result of dizzy failure in past has saturated it?
grateful for any assistance.............................
