Has to be a certain type. I used Comma XSG5L Xstream G48 Antifreeze last time.

Oh and make sure you get the concentration right or it will keep telling you to check the coolant level.

. The header tank has a hydrometer in it that constantly checks it.

I only have diluted stuff left but it looks clear.
I’ll see if I can see my colour of mine tomorrow, it cools down fine and runs like a dream still

Not on a td6, its just a float and a magnetic sensor 2 wires like a vw sensorCheck the concentration

Is there another sensor cos I was deffo told it monitors the concentration and my warning stopped once I put the correct mix in?
Yeah just seen. My float is perfect on max. Reckon it could be a faulty sensor? Safe to drive?
Also, it’s been running to good temp for the past 100+ miles

I thought the float was also a hydrometer so would sit higher or lower with the concentration but that's just guess work from stuff I had read.
Anti-freeze is mainly to stop it freezing although it also has a rust inhibitor to stop the cooling system rusting so I'd say it's safe to drive in the short term. Of course that's only my opinion.

Mixing different types will definitely cause problems.

Apart from a possible problem with specific gravity, it really doesn't matter which type of anti freeze you use as long as you don't mix them. I use green supermarket ready mixed in the P38's the Transit and my MR2.

Put a new bottle on if it keeps saying check coolant and the levels good and temps good,
