Ok i bought this a week or two ago and im trying to get it sorted for off roading and to use for work. Its an 89 RRC with a 200Tdi engine and box fitted and running on 265/75R16 Insa Turbo tyres. The problem is 1st gear is too high and if i stop on a hill its a case of slipping the clutch big time to get it moving. Im thinking this is down to the tyres. It has a 1.222 transfer and I think I need a 1.410 transfer to sort this out, but on reading quite a few threads on ratios i here people saying their 200tdi pulls good with 1.222 and tyres my size. The trouble is if i put a trailer on there is no way i could set off on a decent hill without going into low. Any advice would be great, or if im right about the 1.410 trans and you have/know of one for sale that would be great as well. Thanks
