Hello all,

I need to pull on the fab knowledge on here in regards to my heater not working. So its a 3.9 G Reg, the heater and aircon doesn’t work. It did before I took my drivers door off to weld a sill and now they dont. (Additionally, the puddle lights and door mirror don’t work either now I’ve put the door back on). I’ve checked the fuses near the heater control panel and they are all ok. Are there any other fuses Ive missed?

Thanks

Rich

You could try connecting a live feed (via a long test lead) to the bits that aren't working & see if anything happens.
Also connecting a test bulb to the fuse & see if it the bulb lights. If it does you at least know you have power to the fuse & the problem is between the fuse & the component.

I might be wide of the mark (as in talking out of my arse) & I stand to be corrected but does your MY have fusible links in the loom & is it possible moving the leads when removing the battery has affected them? Unfortunately I don't know exactly where they are but:

Thank you for the assistance, I'm not sure about fusible links but it seems like there is one item that's affecting the blower and AC.

Update.....Drivers door puddle lights and electric mirror all work again (dodgy earth). Still baffled about the heater and aircon not working. All fuses checked and are ok, would it be worth checking the fan control? When i have the lights on the heater panel is back lit but when i touch heater speed switch they dim and go out momentarily.

Think maybe the switch has given up. Would this also affect the Aircon fans also?

Something similar with the HEVAC unit on my P38 project car turned out to be a bad earth.

Becoming a PITA at the mo. So I have no power to any of the blower fuses (everything else ok). When I put the multimeter on the heater / aircon relay and move the heater blower switch it gives me a good 12V so switch ok, I even put 12V across to the blower fuses from a known 12V supply still nothing!

Was all working ok then the next day nothing from either heater fan or Aircon.

Any advice greatly received

Just to add to the bigger picture, I noticed the Aircon/fan motor load relay was getting warm when there is 12V going to it!

Help!

Retest for 12v using a test bulb.
A multimeter will show batteryish voltage BUT if the wires are faulty they may not be passing sufficient to make the item work.
I've had that with mine with the fuel pump.
Is it possible that the relay is faulty or that the fan has seized?

Had similar on Buttercup when I bought her, took the dash out and was mighty relived to find that the earth tag on the motor was only just holding on by one strand. I had expected to be stripping the heater box as well. Just an age thing I recon, anyway crimped a new terminal onto the earth and never a problem since.

Many thanks, I’ll test with a bulb later today. Looking at the wiring diagram it seems that fuse C7 comes directly from ignition to that fuse then to motors etc. Just seems weird that Aircon / heater motor all stopped at once.

I’ll update later,

Thank you

Rich

Update .......tested all relays by placing a bridge across the heater / aircon relay first and all now works. Out of the 4 relays 2 are suspect.

Thank you for all your help and advice
