My 86 range rover has the old type steering wheel (big X no padding). I have bought a later version (padded)b steering wheel, will it fit my rangie and if so any advise on how I do this?
Thanks,
Andy.

Andy as far as I can remember yes it will fit, however to get the old one off without a puller can be very hard work, take the centre nut off then grasp the steering wheel either side and rock it from side to side while pulling, when it releases you could end up in the back seat.

Or if that doesn't work and you don't have a puller, Try sitting in the driving seat, shove your knees up under the wheel and push, then give the centre nut a sharp tap with a copper mallet (if you have one) while the nut is loosened just a couple of threads, don't loosen the nut to far or you risk fooking up the threads.

Having recently changed my steering wheel to a Wood & Pickett type i'd save yourself a lot of hassle and rent yourself a puller especially if its never been off !

Shouldn't be a problem, I'm 6' 4" and have trouble getting my knees past the steering wheel, thats why I'm looking to change it. Thanks, Andy.
