Range Rover classic 1987 odemeter not working

Hi guys, the odemeter / mileage and trip meter are stuck with a slight clicking noise coming from the binnacle. I have opened it up and all the gears and cogs seem to be working and turning. The speedo works fine with just the usual shakey needle up till 10mph. I have also fitted a new cable from gearbox. Any advice would be appreciated.

My '87 has covered quite a low mileage but also developed a faint 'tick' commensurate with road speed some time ago, although both the mileage recorders work ok. The sound is only present when first starting off in cold weather & goes away as (I assume) the mechanism warms up. Sometimes the trip re-set button doesn't fully zero the reading & my shaky needle steadies at around 30mph, so perhaps I'm heading for the same problems as you :(
It concerns me that your replacement of the cable has not cured the trouble, as that was to be my eventual course of action.
nb: was it a single length cable or in two sections?

It was single cable,, apparently the plastic gears wear away.

No ideas on the odometer not working but I have sorted the flickery needle on mine by taking the angle drive (PRC4352) out & giving it a thorough flushing with a carb cleaner aerosol to get the solidified grease out. Squirt of aerosol grease & the flickery needle now works normally.
IIRC I did read somewhere that it's possible to prise the staked in cover out for a more thorough clean but I didn't want to risk breaking mine

I'll bear that trick in mind, thank you for the info.
