We have got a 1993 4.2LSE Range Rover with 140,000 miles and it has reacently developed over heating problems. We have been advised that they cilinder head gasket has gone but have aslo been warned that the block may have gone porus or cracked. This can't be identified untill the head is taken off.

Can anyone advise if they have heard of this before and what the likley hood might be that the block has gone porus? If this is the case we will probably sell it as a new engine unit at £3,000 is not that appealing!

Hi could it just be the radiator????
Also 3000 for a new engine unit?.
Thers Plenty of good second hand range rover engines going for a few hundred quid.

good luck with it any way and keep us informed:)

Thanks for your advise. Please can you advise where i might be able to locate a good second hand or recon 4.2 V8

Thanks

Will

yep

Try EBAY it great for range rover parts( does it have to be a 4.2 as im sure another size range rover v8 will fit and theres loads on ebay at the minute).

try internet, type 4x4 breakers into google then get busy with phone.

try landy magazines

try autotrader for cheap range rovers that you could buy to break up for engine.

try non franchised landrover dealers ( internet) there bound to have an old engine somewhere .

good look and:) keep me up to speed
