range rover 2.5 diesel trouble

hi everyone, i got a p38 range rover 2.5 bmw diesel with running problem......it ticks over well but when i drive it i can only get 3mph out of it, it was fine yesterday can any one help please

gonna need a bit more info than that to help but id start by checking the fuel system, tank pump, injection pump, fuel filter and fuel lines. see if your getting fuel in the fuel filter etc.

thanx for replying, it had a new tank in the summer its coughing and holding back a little the last few weeks but this morning i got in it started it up put it in drive went to pull away and it on went as fast as 3mph....yesterday i did run out of fuel but when i put some in it started straight away and i did about 50 mile

If you ran out of juice yesterday and are having problems today I would suggest that's where to start looking for the problem, filters and the sedimenter (if its got one) work your way from the tank to the injectors checking that you have fuel at each stage until you find the source of the problem. I would bet you will find a blockage somewhere or you have pulled some rubbish into your pump and trashed it.
