try taking the fuel line off before the fuel filter to see if you get a surge of a dribble, if you get the dribble then its your pump if you get the surge then its your filter happy hunting

If you can still hear the pump, and no surge, it's the pump, or less likely, but still possible, your tank isn't venting properly.

Good Morning,
I will try the filter once I get back home; I kinda figured the same.

This morning I tried to start her for giggles and she turned over. I check the air air valve on the fuel rail and it SURGED right out. I let her run for 20 minutes, took her around the block & parked.
Turned her off checked the rail again..
Once again I got a healthy squirt!

I attempted to restart her... NOTHING!!
Waited 20 min... NOTHING!!

What do you think?
I will change the filter once i get home.

have you thought about the coil? if you've established that the fuel is getting as far as the cylinders, surely the next question would be "why isn't it burning the fuel?"

if you pull a plug, earth it to the block and get a mate to crank it over, do you get a good healthy spark? one of my old cars had roughly the same problem intermitantly before it died outright (at the traffic lights in the middle of oxford!). garage replaced the coil and all was good.

This is begining to sound more & more like an ECU or sensor problem. If I were you, I would get a garage, or someone with an OBD reader, to plug in and check for any fault codes. I wouldn't be surprised to find that you have a MAF fault or a faulty coolant temp sensor to the ECU. Both of these can cause the fault you are experiencing.

At least have look at the code reader under the passenger seat, it may show you something.

When my '93 died last winter, it turned out to be the coil. It had spark that you could see, but it wasn't enough. My plugs were soaked, though, and yours were dry after cranking, so I don't know.

Apologies for the delay!
It's pouring is there really nothing I can check!

HOWEVER!! 1st thing I did was try to start and she turned over with a lil help from the pedal; actually pressed it lightly once.
I drove around the block and noticed if I pressed the pedal to hard she lost compression..

Tomorrow ima put on the filter; car port with no garage sucks!

When Stinky died last winter I had to build a tarp tent to work on it. The day he died it was -18. I did all this detective work you are doing now in February in the Rockies. With no garage. Time to cowboy up.

When you ask "Is there nothing I can check?" I will retort that you've been given suggestions of several things to check. Spark, fuel, air. Do them systematically, not willy-nilly.

What does the spark look like?

I really wanna change that filter. I'm thinking of taking his advice and just get a tarp!

I turned get over again with a little hesitation, but still sluggish on the acceleration!
Honestly it's also time for her 6 month tune-up.

You guys are 'thousands' of miles away and Ive received more help than my local dealer and mechanic!
ALL INFO I'VE GOTTEN HAS BEEN GREATLY APPRECIATED AND WELL WORTH MY TIME!

It can't hurt. There's nothing wrong with having a new fuel filter. That was the first thing I did after finding my pump was working, after that I went to electrical issues. As said, it turned out to be the coil. It showed the same symptoms that you are experiencing. It would start, but as soon as I put my foot into it, it would stutter and die. I found that if I could finesse it through the rough spot and get the RPMs up to 1500-2000, it would run all day.

Ok just got back.
Tarp built
Under truck
Cracked the nut going INTO fuel filter
Put key in on position (am by myself)
Lined the gas can under the filter

NOTHING IS DRIPPING OUT & I HAVE A 1/4 TANK OF GAS!

Think I need a pump?

Ok I'm checking my fuses now..
However while their all yellow and green.. The numbers change.
May you tell me the proper fuse (number) lay out.
(ie RL-1: R6F5 & RL-19: R6F6, but their both yellow)

Have a mate turn it over and smell the exhaust. If you smell fuel, then surely the pump is ok as the engine is getting fuel. Did you test for a spark?
