Hi all

Hope you had a good christmas.

My other half took the freelander out last night to fill up as it was very low. Typically around the corner from the garage it ran out of fuel.

I got £5 in a can and filled it up and got it started after the fuel got into the system.

Now I have a constant amber warning light on the dash,

Its the engine icon with an "!" inside it.

Any ideas as to what is now knackered?

In the handbook it says its enigine emission problems??
On the Rave cd it says its engine malfunction light!!

Regards
Paul

I'd imagine the fuel system needs bleeding, diesel cars aren't like petrol cars, you can't just refill from empty and go, any air in the lines or pump needs to be gotten rid of...

i suspect there will be a fault code relating to lack of fuel etc would have thought it just needs the fault code deleting

the same thing happens when it over fuels

the system sounds like it's self bleeding otherwise it wouldn't have started and if it's running as it did before then i'd wait until you get it plugged in before selling it lol

computer is the only way to find out for sure though

I think I would definitely change the fuel filter anyway now as it's probably full of crap.

Possibly borderline fuel pressure generating a fault code.

ECU will clear the light eventually when it realises that the low pressure signal was a one-off event which has not re-occurred during a certain number of start/drive cycles.
