I have purchased some RainX for the windscreen.

I was wondering if there was any reason not to try it on my headlights?

Would it be detrimental? I can't think of any reason not to try it.

I use the same,i don't think it would hurt, but I have headlamp protectors so maybe no in my case, cant see any benefit for me.

no but a complete waste of an expensive product you dont look threw the headlights the light does and its more than bright enough to shine threw even the dirtiest head light

Don't know if I imagined it but after applying RainX to the headlights and driving to and from work tonight, they seemed much brighter.

Rain-X ? I used that on my headlights in the Winter, it makes scraping frost and ice off very easy, but I never saw a frost at all last 'winter'. It does keep them cleaner.

I don't like it on the windscreen though funnily enough, I found it eventually degrades and gets very smeary.

But headlights, yes.

There's new intensely hydrophobic coatings coming, that may be even better and can even coat bodywork, even clothing. Imagine, after a day out in the muddy countryside, a clean car and no more bad brown marks on our clothes.

I use something similar on my headlights and I find that they seem to shrug off dirt, when it is raining the rain seems to run off taking dirt with it.
I also tried ArmorAll Shield on my Defender, when I get it plastered with mud just run it down to the local jet wash and it cleans up great in a few minutes, and shines up quite well.

applying too much of the stuff does that .. i.e. smeary
used to happen to me .. on the windscreen ..
no fun driving into a setting sun :)

put some on about two weeks ago .. sparingly as per label directions ..
no more of the smeary's

the type of spray on glass-cleaner used seems to make a difference as well ..
the cheaper-simpler type works better
( not on about car-screenwash liquid )

about car-screenwash liquid

I use a VW screen wash. I have found it to be very good and after s year has unclogged my rear washer jet. It is the same price as LR own stuff, but for 1 litre rather than 0.25 litre.

I use rainX on my mirrors.

The side Windows all seem to have Lifeshine or similar on them, but not the windscreen or tailgate glass.

I should put some on my head lights.
