Pete - yep, you can bin the plastic - the replacement bushes will have a plastic outer. If you are getting an Indie to fit you may still want to make sure you acquire the bushes yourself - one of those items where quality can vary alot. I went with Bearmach in the end after buying a few different ones, including genuine, and concluding Bearmach was probably made in the same factory, as it had the same mould markings, weight and dimensions

After market bush £3.66 each, OEM £10.20 each, Genuine Land rover (same maker as OEM) £25.30 each. Take your pick. Land rover really do take the piss.
