Hi,

Just after someone to point me in the right direction, I wish to remove the radio to drill two small pilot holes for my CB setup ontop of the dash however none of the flat radio removal tools I have seem to fit the whole.

I have done a search and found this pic on another thread, but a part number or name or a link of some sort so I can track the right tool down would be a big help, as there are different shaped tools available on ebay

Any one who can point me in the right direction is a star :D:cool:
cheers.

According to Rave it's tool 86-006 which looks like the one in your picture. Fit it with the cut-outs facing outwards into slots at top of radio cassette player. Ensure that cut-outs locate correctly with retaining clips, and pull radio cassette player from fascia.

Thanks, I live near Welshpool so it's a tad far, will try the £4 tool first but will keep that it mind, thanks for the offer.

Just ask the local junkie to come round 3 seconds flat
:D Are you suggesting that Spark Steve is one?:p "a job is a lot easier with the right tools ;)

Just a quick update, I eventually decided to buy a new set of radio removal keys off of ebay for a few quid, worked a treat and the radio popped out, although it did require a bit of force to get it to budge. (fingers in the cassette player - if anyone tries this be careful not to apply too much puling force as to damage the radio/plastics - it just needed a bit of encouragement first time).

Interesting info - thanks.

My CB lives on the top of the dash; the bracket only uses a couple of small self tapping screws, so I just removed the little rubber tray above the radio and screwed the bracket into the dash  nowt shorted out...

I had my cb radio on top of the dash too, I cut holes in the rubber dash cover to allow for a custom made bracket and I too used some self tappers and some washers, - The main reason I removed the radio was to check clearance between the radio and the screws protruding through the dash, I dont think it would hit any wires as they are further back but it might just scratch the metal surface of the radio unit - obviously this depends on the length of the screws used (thus the requirement for myself to use a few washers), however if you go too far right/left you run the change of screwing straight into the heating ducting.

I now have a different cb (an older one after the midlands 48 started playing up), and I now have it in the map pocket near the sun roof.
