Morning all,
I'm going to change my battery (it's been on the car for 8 years). I haven't got the radio or eka codes-would my local stealer have them?

Cheers

Steve

Yes, take ID and the registration document. Should be free. Never had to use EKA on mine after a battery disconnect.

Alphaline MC31 135Ah 1000CCA at about £100 is the biggest that will fit. Battery Megastore on line. (no affiliation)

Never had a look. I bought the car 6 years ago and included was the receipt for a battery change just over one years previous by Sratstone of Mayfair. Battery £72 +vat and fitting £57+vat.

to save any trouble why not keep another battery connected to your car battery leads with jump leads while you remove and replace your old battery, then there will not be a need for codes ;)

That does what you say but does carry the risk of an unintentional short of the positive lead to the chassis which is more damaging than just disconnecting the battery.

Keys in the ignition turned to accessories (door left open just in case, or windows down). Plug one of those jump starters in to the cig lighter socket. That should do it? No chance of shorts and power maintained...

Exactly the same risk of the positive battery lead shorting to the chassis with even greater risk of damaging the electronics.

I was going to ask "Why?" But I've realised that you mean the positive lead of the *removed* battery don't you?

I'll go back to what I know best and stop chipping in.... :)
