After reading all the proposals for upgrading the sound system from the original Clarion, I recently followed the advice of one member here and simply phoned the Clarion service centre. For £100, I god a full refurb including new lcd panel, removal of the security code and a line in cable. The line-in cable emerges next to the ashtray - I just popped the trim off the side of the centre console and didn't even have to drill a hole.

So now I have all the old functions plus music off the iPhone (supported by an AirStash with 64Gb of music). So no shiny Kenwood head unit but no sorrow with rewiring everything else and all for rather less money. I can live with that until the beast expires (it shows no sign of doing that) or until "THEY" decided to can FM radio_One local car audio dealer offered a transplant including the steering wheel controls for around £350, but I wasn't convinced and am so far happy with what I did, and it only took a week to turn the job round. My thanks to Clarion Service Centre!

I have a Clarion fitted line in and it does just that.

You select the radio, if nothing is connected you get radio, and if it's connected you get whatever is connected.

I have no idea how it works!

Great service from Clarion though, well worth it I thought too.
