I can't make any comment about their rads, but I have fitted lots of Nissen air con condensor rads to different cars, all fitted well and seem quite well made.

Would doing away with the cowl reduce the chance of rad failure do you suppose?
That I don't know, mine is running without the cowl but it was there for 110K miles.
I'm sure it's just a fatigue failure with the constant heating/cooling/pressure change plus maybe flexing from the cowling.

mine did same afew years ago but other end of rad was talking to a plastics man today about the rads splitting all in same area he`s up for have a look to why there splitting but i havnt go one to show him, if any one near me has a dead one it might be intersting to shed some light on the failers as he knows what he is talking about
Well after getting the radiator and checking it the first one was bent, the second was was good, baffle in the top and so I jumped to it and put it in and 45mins later the job was all complete. No bleeding problem as used works vacuum filling machine. Ran her up needle just below half way no hard pipes and nearside rad top is warm and offside rad top is cool.
So a successful afternoon, I do prefer to work on the p38 rather than the new l405.
