In my 1999 Discovery I have an R990 autochanger under the drivers seat. Although it has the CD cassette in it, the head unit says it's not there and it won't eject. And - it's got my sons newest CD's in it.

Any ideas please? Is there a manual release anywhere? When you press the eject button, there's a very faint clunk but no action. How do I sort this one please? Please?

Try unplugging the unit and reconnecting.

There may be a reset button (tiny one that you have to use a paper clip to press)

Failing that, undo four nuts and remove and strip.

Sounds like one of the cd drawers has been left slightly out (by the changer) and is stopping the magazine ejecting.

I had this happen, just once so far and completely out of the blue. Ejected/reinserted the cassette loads of times, it still wouldn't detect any of the discs. Only things that cured it was to change the order of the discs in the cassette! Maybe that was just coincidence, but keep trying, it should work eventually.

Many thanks James. I had the same problem as you a while back prior to this more serious one where it now won't register the cartridge being there at all or eject it.

I think the long term solution may prove to be a strip and clean as there's probably 6 years of dust, grease and general muck in there.
